PRINCE ALBERT

THINGS TO DO

The Karoo vegetation and its wildlife and insects attract a wide variety of birds. The lbj's will keep many a bird watcher scratching his head and paging through Roberts! Watch out for Verraux's Eagles (Black Eagles) and Pale Chanting Goshawks, scanning the scrub for prey.

More than 260 bird species have been seen in and around Prince Albert. A list is provided in the cottages.

The local  bird club, the William Quinton Karoo Wild Bird Society regularly holds outings. Please contact us to find out more.

The Gamkapoort Nature Reserve lies to the west, baboons, kudu, steenbok and klipspringers can be seen there. The Gamkapoort Dam provides a tranquil spot for a picnic and the perfect setting for viewing Karoo birds and waterfowl. You might even see the Fish Eagles which nest nearby.  A robust vehicle is needed for the 40km drive to the nature reserve.
